Mapp Gas Discontinued. Can you still get it in your area? MAP-Pro is a product to target mostly welders. All I can find now is a watered down version that isn't as hot, doesn't hack it. I also heard it burns much cooler now. I can still find genuine MAPP stabilized gas from speciality gas suppliers. Currently, our product is the only real original MAPP gas substitute available in the North American Market. MAPP gas is widely regarded as a safer and easier-to-use substitute for acetylene. I think the price is probably very outrageous for everyday users who just want to have fun making jewellery or browning meats.

It is found that the oxygen flame of MAPP gas cylinders is not entirely appropriate for welding steel, due to the high concentration of hydrogen in the flame.. I can still find genuine MAPP stabilized gas from speciality gas suppliers. However, many current products labeled "MAPP" are, in fact, MAPP substitutes. Mapp gas was notable for being entirely colorless, and it boasted a distinct fish-like smell.
